1. Decentralized Messaging Solution (DMS) -
It is a partially outsourced messaging solution wherein Mailing Server software & hardware of customer are decentralized and spread across all their locations. HCL Infinet provides the Network Gateway & Catch All account(s) and the customer still controls the administration of the individual user Ids within the company domain.
The DMS comprises of:
- Message Transfer Agent (MTA): The Server software used to send/receive emails between customer and HCL Infinet data center server.
- Mail Distribution Software (MDS): Used to distribute emails within the particular customer location LAN. This could be same as the MTA described above.
- Backend POP3 Mailboxes / space: POP3 mailbox (catch all account) for customer domain or multiple Catch All accounts for multiple sub-domains are provisioned. This POP3 space is provisioned in HCL Infinet Messaging servers at its data center.
- Network access:Required for sending and retrieving emails from HCL Infinet's data center server. The medium used could be:
- ISDN, Leased Lines, Dial up lines terminating directly on HCL Infinet data center.
- Internet Gateway at customer site from any other service provider.
2. Centralized Messaging Solution (CMS) -
It is a completely outsourced messaging solution wherein the Mailing Server software, hardware & manpower requirements are outsourced to HCL Infinet. This is centralized and hosted at our Data Center, the customer doesn't require a Mail server. Each user ID (company employees) is independent and directly access emails from HCL Infinet Mail server
The CMS has following features,
- Message Transfer Agent (MTA): The Server software used to send/receive emails between customer and HCL Infinet data center server.
- Mail Distribution Software (MDS): Used to distribute emails within the particular customer location LAN. This could be same as the MTA described above.
- Web based: Can be accessed from anywhere in the world through a browser.
- Client feature: The user can at any time download its emails by configuring the client (Outlook, Eudora etc.) with the details of the user's Account ID and the IP of the Mail Server at HCL data center.
- Private Mailbox: Each user will have an independent email account created on HCL Infinet Mail server as against DMS wherein the independent accounts are created on company's Mail server.
3. Mail Security Services -
Mail Security Services offer customers security features for their Mailboxes hosted on their mail server.
The customer's mails land at HCL Infinet's Email Security Gateway and are scanned for Virus and Spam by the Robust Anti-Spam / Virus appliance. The clean mails are then forwarded to the customer's mail server.
Besides Virus and Spam filtering, the appliance also offers protection against
- Phishing
- Bounce Attacks
- DHA (Directory Harvest Attacks).
- Content Filtering
- Email Encryption
